Hopefully by now, you've made the switch to using peanut butter (and other nut butters) that are not made with hydrogenated oils, trans fat and added sugars. And as we're sure you've discovered, natural peanut butters tend to be kind of a pain! Because they are made without emulsifiers and preservatives, they need to be refrigerated. What's more, the oils tend to separate and that makes getting your peanut butter out of the jar difficult.

Earth Balance uses a special oil blend that doesn't need to be stirred, nor does it need to be refrigerated! Their peanut butter is also made with flaxseed for the ALA Omega-3 content, and then sweetened with natural agave syrup, a low glycemic sweetener.

Have some of this yummy peanut butter on whole-grain toast as part of a healthy breakfast. Or add it to your recovery meal for when you're working out longer than 90 minutes at a time. Remember, when you work out for longer than 90 minutes at a time, try to have a recovery meal immediately after your workout that contains 1 gram of carbohydrate per kilogram of weight plus 10-20 grams of protein. Then keep replenishing your carbs every hour (use the same formula of 1 gm carb/kg of weight) for the next 3 hours. This will help replenish your glycogen stores and rebuild muscles.
